FANtastical Friday #5 with Amanda Carlson

Fantastical Friday

Welcome to FANtastical Friday!

Please help me welcome a very special guest to FANtastical Friday : The talented Amanda Carlson!

Amanda has one of those sparkling personalities that, when considering the fact that she writes gritty, fast-paced Urban Fantasy, begs the question: Is there more than one personality lurking behind that bright smile? Amanda's books have received stellar reviews from some of the biggest and brightest out there, and her Jessica McClain series is touted as unique and bewitching, her wolves dynamic and formidable. I, for one, am dying (DYING!!!!) to dive in!!!!

And, as though that were not enough, they are available on audio as well. Woot! Woot!

Without further ado, please help me . . .

WELCOME, Amanda!!!

 FANtastical Friday Question...

Darynda: What is your favorite fruit and what anatomical part does it most remind you of?

Amanda: Darynda, this question may be why I love you the most! Of course, this makes me want to choose the lovely banana for obvious reasons, but I can't lie, I'm not a banana lover. I'm just not. This has to be a toss up between a nice honeycrisp apple (developed right here in MN) or fresh raspberries (preferably sprinkled over some vanilla ice cream). Though the two individually don't make much anatomical sense, if you place the raspberry on top of the apple *just so*, you may produce some very fine company for Mr. Banana. Or at the very least to keep him occupied for a while.

Love you, Darynda! Thank you for including me in on this wonderful FANtastical Friday. Can't wait to clink glasses with you at the Romantic Times Conference in May.

Darynda:  Aw, Right back atcha!!!! Love everything about you! And you are a fellow interpreter. How cool is that? I can't wait to hang with you. Just for the record, your love of fruit is . . . inspiring. 😊

Meet Amanda Carlson

Amanda CarlsonAuthor card

I’m a Minnesota girl, born and bred. I started writing stories about teenage girls and their social missteps when I was in high school, and I still have the handwritten spiral notebooks to prove it. After jumping into writing classes after I had children, I joined my local RWA writing chapter and it all went from there. I started writing FULL BLOODED because kickass heroines rock and I love shifters of all kinds. In my opinion there aren’t enough warm-blooded girls to go around. Jessica’s story started in my mind like a scene out of a movie and exploded from there. I've had such a great time writing these books, and I hope the readers enjoy them just as much too!

Amanda is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a BA in both Speech and Hearing Science & Child Development. She went on to get an A.A.S in Sign Language Interpreting and worked as an interpreter until her first child was born. She enjoys playing Scrabble to an unhealthy degree, shopping trips to Ikea and has a great weakness for tropical beaches. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and three kids.

 FULL BLOODED (Jessica McClain #1)

Born the only female in an all male race, Jessica McClain isn’t just different—she’s feared.

After living under the radar for the last twenty-six years, Jessica is thrust unexpectedly into her first change, a full ten years late. She wakes up and finds she’s in the middle of a storm. Now that she’s become the only female full-blooded werewolf in town, the supernatural world is already clamoring to take a bite out of her and her new Pack must rise up and protect her.

But not everyone is on board. The werewolf Rights of Laws is missing text and the superstitious werewolves think that Jessica means an end to their race. It doesn’t help when Jessica begins to realize she’s more. She can change partway and hold her form, and speak directly to her wolf. But the biggest complication by far is that her alpha father can't control her like he can the rest of his wolves.

When a mercenary who’s been hired by the vampires shows up to extract information about the newly turned werewolf only days after her change, they find themselves smack in the middle of a war and there's no choice but to run together. When it’s up to Jessica to negotiate her release against her father’s direct orders, she chooses to take an offer for help instead. In exchange, Jessica must now swear an oath she may end up repaying with her life.

Hot Blooded (Jessica McClain #2)

It hasn't been the best week for Jessica McClain.

Her mate has been kidnapped by a Goddess hell-bent on revenge --- but Jessica is playing for keeps.

Because she's the only female werewolf in town...it comes with its own set of rules...and powers.

Aided by two vamps, two loyal Pack members, and one very reluctant human, Jessica must rescue her man while coming

to terms with what being a wolf really means.

All in a day's work for a girl.

The second novel in the Jessica McClain series is a full on action adventure featuring one angry Goddess and plenty of monsters, demons, and a few newly risen beasties...

Cold Blooded (Jessica McClain #3)

Magic, mayhem and madness explode in this third installment in the Jessica McClain series.

Jessica McClain is on the run... again.

Finally reunited with Rourke, Jessica arrives home to find that her best friend has been kidnapped, her father has vanished, and the supernatural Sects -- witches, demons, and sorcerers --- don't even have the courtesy to wait until she is unpacked to attack.

Now, mastering her powers as the sole female werewolf might not be enough to save them. Thrown together in a shaky truce with the Vampire Queen, Jessica must show all the different Sects what the true meaning of "the enemy of my enemy" is or her father will die...
