JUNE IS AUDIOBOOK MONTH!

That's right, folks! June is Audiobook Month. Woot! Woot!

I gotta tell ya, I have loved audiobooks for many a year. I first discovered them while making the hazardous (okay, not really) journey to and from Albuquerque when my eldest, who was born deaf, was just a little guy. We had to venture back and forth quite often for testing and whatnot, then I packed up both my boys and put them in school there, which meant making that trip every other weekend for seven years. It was either that or only see my husband every four months or so. Not in this lifetime. So the two of us took turns going back and forth on the weekends and that's when I discovered that I gravitated toward books read by my favorite narrators, no matter the genre.

On the left is Lorelei King, my #1 favorite narrator even before she started reading the Charley Davidson series, and in the middle is Teri Hamilton Garrett, a great friend and fellow lover and advocate of audiobooks.

Other favorite narrators include Tavia Gilbert, Johnny Heller, Edoardo Ballerini, Edward Hermann, Eric G. Dove, Victor Slezak, Jim Dale, Emma Galvin, Dion Graham, the ultimate and uber-talented Neil Gaiman...I could go on and on. Honestly, there are so many wonderful voices out there and incredibly talented narrators who bring books to a whole new level.

And in case you are wondering, no, it's not cheating. You can keep up with your reading while driving or cleaning house. It's still literature!

I've been extremely fortunate in my career because Macmillan chose to put the Charley Davidson series on audiobook. I was floored when I first heard this. And when I found out my favorite narrator, Lorelei King, was going to be reading them? Well, I was stunned, to say the least. She reads two of my favorite series: The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs and the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

I know, right???

If you have't had the chance to listen to an audiobook, it's never too late to start. Audiobooks are surging in sales partly because, with our busy lifestyles, tons of people are learning to love them while listening during commutes, on airplanes, and doing mundane tasks like housework, exercise, and gardening. They make the time fly!

So, what about you? Listened to any good audiobooks lately? 😊

IF IT HAS TIRES OR TESTICLES, IT’S GONNA GIVE YOU TROUBLE.
