Have you ever created a time capsule? Did you do it as a child or a teen? Have you ever opened one? 

Time capsules are great for remembering where you are at during a given time in your life. We change every year, so this one would be for now and now only. It would probably change next year, but I’d wager not by much.

 At this moment in time, I’d put these items into my time capsule.

An iPod with the songs:

• Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers

• Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down

 …and I could go on and on.

I would also put a few books, including but not limited to:

•  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

• Lover Awakened by JR Ward

• The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

• Envy by Sandra Brown

• Ain’t She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

• The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss

• The Hunger Games by Susan Collins

• Twilight (Yes, Twilight!) by Stephenie Meyer

 …and again I could go on and on.

Next I would put the opening lines to a new manuscript I just started called The Razorback. It goes a little something like this:

 The water ran out on Saturday, so even though I’d get in trouble for wearing the hood up on my gray pullover, I took a chance. I hadn’t washed my hair in five days. Maybe no one would notice I was breaking one tiny rule. Maybe I wouldn’t be sent to the directorate’s office. Maybe today would be different. Then again, I kind of didn’t care. I didn’t have the energy to care. The food ran out on Saturday, too.

And no time capsule is complete without our favorite foods. That would include:

• a diet orange soda

• a package of Twizzlers

• a box of Hot and Spicy CheezIts

• a can of coffee with both regular creamer and chocolate creamer. It’s a process really.

Add to that pics of my gorgeous sons, the Mighty, Mighty Jones Boys, my handsome husband who waits on my hand and foot, and our beautiful pit bulls, Dooley and Cane, and I’d say my time capsule is just about complete.

I say just about because naturally I’d have to add several letters I’ve received from readers. You guys don’t know what those mean to us!
